Position Title

Instrument Mechanician

Mine Site (Brand se Baai)

Position Overview

This position is part of the PCP East Engineering department and is required to work dayshift executing statutory tasks as determined by the Mine Health and Safety Act as well as periodical inspection, repairing, maintaining, fault finding and the reporting of faulty equipment used to measure and control Plant variables. This position is also required to do standby duties.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act and company specific SHE Policies and procedures.
  • Prepared to be a Team Worker able to assist the team to set and achieve targets.
  • Repair, maintain, implement and commissioning of Industrial Instruments.
  • Must do standby and working overtime if needed in case of emergency or when production is down.
  • Perform trade related maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to the Mine Health and Safety Act, Mine’s Code of Practice, Procedures, Standards and Company SHE objectives.
  • Ensure sound maintenance approach.
  • Continuous improvement on plant equipment and process flow.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Certified Trade Test Qualification with a full N2 technical certificate with mathematics, science, applicable trade theory and respective trade related 4th subject.
  • Valid code 08 (Code B) driver’s license.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Computer Literacy with knowledge of MS Office.
  • Good communication and administration skills.
  • Experience in Process Automation Mass Flow Gauges and Electromechanical Belt Scales.
  • Knowledge of MS Office assisting in Daily Scheduling and Planning of tasks.
  • Knowledge of Conveyor Safety Devices (CT Systems experience will be an advantage).
  • Ability to apply systematic fault finding and problem-solving techniques (RCA and RCFA).
  • Experience with PLC’s and SCADA systems (Mitsubishi PLC’s and ADROIT SCADA).
  • Knowledge of Siemens variable speed drives.
  • Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act*.
  • Knowledge of PA scales and densities.
  • Endress & Hauser/Vega level and pressure transmitter knowledge.
  • In-depth knowledge of Magnetic flowmeters.
  • Good faultfinding and communication skills.
  • Planning (Routine Work Maintenance).
