OHS, Environment and Quality Officer

Job Description

Job Purpose

Monitors the implementation of the DSC Country Safety, Food Safety, environment and quality strategy, polices and standards within location in close co-operation with Country HSE Leads.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as focal contact for all OHS, ENV & QA -related topics/requests, global and x-functional CI initiatives on site
  • Drive OHS, ENV & QA Food Safety culture through consistent communication and employee engagement (incl. relevant DPDHL policies)
  • Coordinate monthly MRPs and OHS, ENV & QA Management Reviews
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of procedures (OMS First Choice and best practice sharing
  • Review customer quality agreements and evaluate operational requirements
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory, customer and local legal obligations prior, during and after implementation
  • Support validation and qualification activities
  • Perform relevant inspections in order to verify full compliance against all applicable requirements
  • Prepare and support audits
  • Maintain key operational documentation in relevant tools and distribute to operational staff
  • Ensure operational training is conducted in accordance to regulation and/or DHL standards and review respective training matrix/plan/records
  • Act as a reviewer for operational documents (incl. but not limited to standard operating procedures & work instructions
  • Support performance of FMEA for work instructions
  • Implement and supervise the adherence of Quality/Food Safety Management System (15 Global Quality Standards aligned to ISO 9001 & ISO 22001/ BRC) and Quality BASICS
  • Implement and supervise the adherence of Safety-First Framework (Global OHS Standards aligned to ISO 45001) and OHS BASICS including the Global Transport management procedures
  • Implement and supervise the adherence of Dangerous Goods Management (Global DGM/Chemical management Standards aligned to ISO 14001 & ISO 50001) and ENV/Sustainability BASICS
  • Implement and supervise the adherence of 10 Steps EMS (Global Environmental management Standards aligned to ISO 14001 & ISO 50001) and ENV/Sustainability BASICS
  • Ensure adherence to customer quality/OHS/ENV/Sustainability/Transport requirements in line with DPDHL policy
  • Monitor and analyze OHS/Quality/ENV/Sustainability metrics, investigate non-conformances and create & execute actions plans
  • Prepare and participate in customer, regulatory and internal operational audits as required and work with the site management team to implement the agreed action plans
  • Liaise with suppliers based on business requirements, monitor performance and where necessary, propose improvements to line manager and implement agreed improvement actions
  • Investigate the risk of business disruptions and implement identified mitigation

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • IOSH Managing Safely course or Country equivalent
  • SAMTRAC
  • ISO 22001/BRC/ISO 9001
  • Auditing
