Adjunct Faculty – Master of Public Health

Job Description

An adjunct faculty member is contracted to teach one course per contract. The adjunct faculty will receive a course syllabus and will provide instruction at the direction of the Program Director or Dean. Instruction by the adjunct instructor will in all ways be consistent with the expectations of a full-time faculty member.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:

  • Teaches using the course syllabus and instructional guidelines as provided by the Program Director.
  • Completes an Adjunct Faculty Orientation.
  • Clarifies with the Program Director course expectations and instructional strategies expected.
  • Demonstrates competence in using various instructional software tools including Canvas, Zoom, MyRecords, or other appropriate instructional tools.
  • Teaches the course within the specified timeline.
  • Responds to students promptly and with respect.
  • Provides practical hands-on instruction in an engaging learning environment, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies in order to enhance the learning experience of our students and achieve learning outcomes.
  • Informs the Program Director and Academic Advisor of any student problems and seeks assistance if needed with responding to student needs.
  • Meets all instructional objectives of the course.
  • Grades all student work in a timely manner, communicates with students, and provides effective feedback to enable students to understand their academic progress.
  • Submits grades within stipulated deadlines.
  • Follows course procedures including:
  • Preparing and opening the course in Canvas, and welcoming students according to timelines provided by program.
  • Ensuring the student rosters in My Records and Canvas match.
  • Following program guidelines for the communicated time for class meetings.
  • Sending academic warnings in a timely manner.
  • Reminding students to complete the end of the course surveys.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

A Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field is required; a terminal degree is preferred.

Experience in the subject area as demonstrated by work or academic background is required.
