About The Role
For many children, their first experience in our game is through participation in AFL Auskick, junior and school football programs. The core purpose of the Programs and Participation Lead is to grow participation through the professional and consistent delivery of these core programs. Through best-in-class delivery, our Programs and Participation Lead ensure the highest-quality customer experience across all football and fan engagement programs.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver and run a variety of AFL programs in either school, after-school, or community club environments
- Ensure each program is delivered in line with the program curriculum and all participants can participate in a safe, friendly & fun environment
- Deliver high quality school football competitions and programs
- Implement transition and retention strategies from AFL Auskick and school programs to junior club football
- Liaise with and influence teachers, schools, and other program stakeholders
- Organise AFL player visits and fan engagement opportunities
- Support junior clubs and Auskick centres in relation to recruitment, volunteers, coaching, protocols, promotion and venue hire
- Conduct promotional activities to meet participant targets e.g. school assemblies and other promotional activities
- Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role
- Develop and grow the AFL alternative formats in the region
- Support and contribute to the success of the broader team
OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER
Must haves – what’s needed to help you be successful:
- Well-developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation skills
- Experience working with children and young people
- Demonstrated personal initiative and ability to work effectively unsupervised
- Strong organisation and planning skills
- Proven customer service skills, including negotiation abilities
- Satisfactory “Working with Children” check
- Due to the nature of the sporting industry must be willing to work outside normal business hours from time to time, such as evenings and weekends
- Demonstrated ability to relate to and engage diverse communities
- Driver’s license to travel as required
