January 25, 2025

Job Description

Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oatmilk company that started in Sweden back 25 or so years ago and has since expanded to the U.S. where we’ve continued growing at a rate such that we need more brilliant minds to come work with us to keep the momentum going and the oatmilk flowing.

Sustainability, health, and transparency are the core values that guide everything we do. Basically, we exist to make it easy for people to eat better and live healthier lives without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources in the process. If any of this resonates with you, then maybe you’d like work for Oatly, too. Now onto the formal stuff.

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Category Management + Insights to join our team. This role will build Oatly’s reputation as a best-in-class category and insights leader at all levels within Whole Foods, Club, Mass, and Emerging Channels.

Here are the things we want to hire you to do:

  • Category Management – Own development and evolution of our brand sell-in stories. Lead with a bias for the facts and demonstrate that Oatly’s category and insights leadership will help drive customer growth and profit. Develop and execute category strategies to drive growth at key retail partners. Lead assortment optimization, shelf space planning, and merchandising recommendations to enhance category performance. Partner with retailers to develop category growth plans, leveraging insights and data to create mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Retail Insights – Analyze point-of-sale (POS), market share, and shopper behavior data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the category. Translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders. Provide thought leadership on macro trends, industry shifts, shopper dynamics, and the competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Leadership & Collaboration – Collaborate with Sales teams on key account objectives and identify opportunities to educate customers about plant-based foods, our categories, and our brand. Serve as a trusted advisor to internal teams and retail partners, building strong relationships and ensuring alignment on category goals. Represent Oatly at retailer meetings, industry events, and other key engagements.
  • Story-telling – Develop a mastery of Oatly’s category, customer, consumer, and competitive performance that will inform our narrative and recommendations. Build custom analyses using syndicated scan, consumer, and shopper card data, translating those insights into compelling presentations addressing each customer’s unique goals. Build concise narratives with easy-to-follow flow, and impactful insights that support clear takeaways.

Here Are The Things We Think You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 8+ years of CPG experience, with an emphasis on Sales, Category Management and Insights
  • Retailer-facing experience preferred
  • Demonstrated strong understanding and experience with Syndicated Data (Nielsen, Spins, IRI)
  • Experience with Panel and Shopper Card Data (e.g. Numerator, Luminate, Stratum, Shopper360)
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint/presentation-building skills
  • Exceptional Storytelling ability and presentation skills – be able to find and tell a compelling narrative that can be told through data
  • Passion for seeing the forest through the trees, how different pieces connect to the whole, and delivering insights that keep the big picture in mind
  • Ability to connect disparate data sources, interpret analysis results and communicate analytical findings and business insights to diverse audiences
  • Naturally curious and self-motivated with the ability to embrace change and deliver results by managing multiple/diverse priorities

And here’s another list of qualities we think make a good Oatly team member:

  • You feel connected to our mission of encouraging health, sustainability, and transparency
  • You are a self-starter who doesn’t need direct supervision to motivate you for success – we believe strongly in building a culture of individual accountability and ownership and need partners that can embrace that mentality
  • You are ready to make your mark in a smaller, growing brand leveraging your experience to deliver amazing results and build an outstanding company
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit in that you’re comfortable with ambiguity and are energized by the process of building something lasting from the ground up
  • You enjoy sharing your quirkiness and talents with your coworkers

Another bulleted list felt redundant, so we wrote this long sentence with all the ways we sweeten the deal to work with us, like providing flexible vacation for starters, really great benefits, and genuinely great coworkers who want to see the company and each other succeed, and a start-up vibe with an established company history.
