POSITION SUMMARY: This position interfaces with all levels of employees to assist in the application of Elwyn HR (Human Resources) policies and procedures; is responsible for updating the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) including adding new employee information.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Organizes and communicates incoming Unemployment Compensation notifications; submit requests and responses in coordination with service areas/departments
  • Administers educational assistance programs making recommendations for program updates
  • Enters new employee data in the HRIS; enters employee change data and termination data as needed
  • Provides oversight for the collection of and invoicing for documentation submissions in response to subpoenas for employee records
  • Creates and maintains up to date information in the Employee Handbook and SharePoint site in assigned areas using approval protocols
  • Manages general HR inquiries by providing information and referrals
  • Provides backup for the HR Associate including but not limited to processing personal leave requests with operation and program leadership; reviewing, processing and logging disciplinary actions written warnings through terminations; processing requests for employment verifications
  • Provides backup for the Central Files Administrator including but not limited to filling personnel file documentation requests; preparation of files for review
  • Performs other duties as assigned

DIRECT REPORTS: None

CONTACTS: Elwyn staff, visitors, Unemployment Compensation Board employees, individuals served

Education/Experience/Skills Requirements

  • High school education required; bachelor’s degree in human resources or human resources certification is preferred and may be substituted for experience working in the HR field
  • One (1) year of experience working in the HR field
  • Non-profit human service experience highly preferred
  • Experience working within a union environment preferred
  • Highly organized with a high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated excellent customer interaction, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills required; presentation skills preferred
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Human resources-based technologies/systems (HRMS) experience, ideally with ADP, preferred
