Be a Star at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts!

This position is responsible for maintaining all concessions areas and selling concessions items inside the theater lobby. This is a great event-based position for someone looking to get started in the customer service or hospitality fields. Our Food and Beverage team is willing to train for this position and we promote from within.

Located in downtown Tampa on the beautiful Riverwalk, the Straz offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment. Essential Functions

  • Creates a friendly and welcoming environment for Center guests.
    • Welcomes and greets guests.
    • Presents food & drink menu, makes recommendations, and answers questions regarding it.
  • Provides excellent customer service in a professional manner.
    • Takes orders from guests.
    • Serves guests quickly and efficiently, including basic preparation of food and beverages.
    • Records orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system.
    • Uses POS system to ring orders and accurately maintain inventory, accepts guest payment, processes credit card charges and makes change (if applicable).
  • Presents a neat and professional appearance in correspondence with the uniform code.
  • Maintains cleanliness in all concessions and coffee areas.
  • Reports all equipment problems and maintenance issues to the Concessions Manager.
  • Assists with restocking and replenishment of inventory and supplies in concessions areas.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)

  • Great communication skills, personable and friendly with customers.
  • Working knowledge of coffee or eagerness to learn.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

Education And Work Experience

  • High School or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred.
