Job Title: System Administrator/Lab Administrator

Location: Austin, TX

Overview

We are seeking a skilled System Administrator/Lab Administrator with expertise in operating systems, data centers, virtualization, and networking. The role involves managing and supporting hardware, software, and infrastructure in a lab or data center environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Linux, scripting, and troubleshooting hardware, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure operating systems, including Windows Server, Linux, and Unix.
  • Rack, build, cable, configure, and provision Intel and AMD servers.
  • Rack, cable, and deploy Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and perform quality assurance on server hardware.
  • Resolve hardware issues professionally via trouble ticketing systems.
  • Handle lab administration tasks, including GitLab ticket management, asset tracking, and hands-on lab activities.
  • Support data center operations, virtualization, GPU/CPU infrastructure, and Linux-based environments.
  • Manage cabling tasks, including port mapping and understanding cable types and purposes.
  • Assist in the installation of web servers and databases as needed.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in Windows Server, Linux, and Unix operating systems.
  • Knowledge of data center operations, virtualization, networking, and GPU/CPU infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Linux and scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with cabling, port mapping, and understanding cable types.
  • Basic hardware troubleshooting skills with logical problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with RAID levels, web server, and database installations is a plus.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment.
  • Familiarity with GitLab ticket handling and asset management.
