NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a permanent, fulltime post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday.

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse. After your training you will become a skilled member of the Endoscopy team, providing the highest standard of specialist patient care without direct supervision. Endoscopy nurses’ assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and follow standards/protocols in order to give a quality service to patients. You will use your specialist clinical skills to carry out endoscopy care for patients in a safe and effective manner. As you develop your skills you will be expected to delegate appropriately to junior/support staff showing a full understanding of staff abilities before delegation of duties from patient care plan. You will develop programmes of care by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating specialist patient care to be carried out by themselves and other members of staff.

It is essential that you are currently a Registered Adult Nurse with the NMC and having endoscopy experience would be advantageous. As holding current full professional registration is an essential requirement for the post, candidates who do not complete the professional registration section of the application form or who do not hold current full registration will not be considered for short listing.

The unit is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. providing a service to both out-patients and inpatients. Glasgow Royal Infirmary Endoscopy unit comprises of 3 procedure rooms that service a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including- GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, ERCP and EUS for adults.

To meet the service demands you may be required to work at other endoscopy units within the GGC area.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
