There are 4 fulltime, permanent positions available, with a shift pattern of Monday to Sunday.

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for dedicated and compassionate Band 3 Health Care Support Workers to join our dynamic team within the Diagnostic Imaging Departments at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The role also includes a cross-site rotation across other locations in the South-west Sector of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, including Gartnavel General Hospital, Victoria Ambulatory Care Hospital, and the Institute of Neurological Sciences.

About The Role

As a Health Care Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting Radiographers, medical, and nursing staff in delivering high-quality care to patients before, during, and after radiographic, fluoroscopic, CT, ultrasound, mammography, and MRI examinations. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct patient care and support throughout imaging procedures
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of imaging equipment
  • Undertaking administrative duties as required
  • Ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards
  • Supporting the clinical team in delivering excellent patient outcomes

What We’re Looking For

SVQ Level 111 in healthcare, or working towards it, or equivalent experience in a caring environment/role. While previous healthcare experience is desirable, it is not essential. We are looking for candidates with:

  • A compassionate and patient-centred approach to care
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • An understanding of confidentiality and a commitment to following NHS procedures and guidelines
  • The ability to undertake required training and development, including the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Care Support Worker Induction and in-house competencies

Other Requirements

  • Membership of the PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check is mandatory
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a 24-hour, 365-day service, with a full-time commitment of 37 hours per week

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
