Electrical Engineer: Rail Overhead Wiring and Traction Power

Role Responsibilities

• Engage with new concepts, and develop projects in a digitally innovative environment, working in the Rail group of the Global Design Centre, undertaking design work for projects in Australia, Asia and Africa.
• Use your electrical engineering knowledge to contribute to the modelling and design of rail Overhead Wiring Equipment (Electrical) and/or Traction Power systems.
• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, ensure coordination and conformity between rail discipline interfaces and separate design offices in remote locations.
• Actively take part and coordinating a small group performing Modelling, Design and Draughting of Overhead Wiring / Traction Power infrastructure including:
• Power flow simulation and calculations of Rail Overhead Wiring systems
• Energy flow calculations and requirements for different freight and passenger train designs
• Applying rail standards in the design of Overhead Wiring / Traction Power layouts and components. Knowledge of applicable standards in Australia would be beneficial.
• Able to ramp up skills and experience in Navisworks, Electrical Traction Power Flow simulation software (knowledge in ETAP will be an advantage), 3D modelling software, and Projectwise.
• Ability to develop software tools in, for example, Python.

Minimum Requirements

• B.Eng Electrical with 0-3 years of experience is required.
