What We Are Looking For
- Provide inputs for a strategic direction to asset management of the site in line with the proposed ISO 55001.
- Ensure effective and efficient maintenance of equipment, facilities and Yard.
- Lead technical investigations into problem areas of asset management using problem solving techniques.
- Prepare and manage the maintenance budget and assist with capital expenditure projects of the engineering group.
- Implementing a quick reactive mind-set to breakdowns.
- Managing the critical spares stores.
- Compile and ensure implementation of EE Plan for Engineering discipline.
- Ensuring that the business plan is executed accordingly within the approved budget.
- Ensuring that OSHACT ISO regulations are always up to date.
- Responsible for employee development, training, performance management as well as succession planning.
- Ensuring that Asset Register is available and accurate all the time.
- Responsible for all daily activities and operations in the respective buildings and facilities.
- In conjunction with the production planning section, prepare and manage production schedules. This includes all resources; material, components, facilities, labour and equipment.
- Escalation and solving of any risks related to safety, quality and delivery commitments.
- Set and manage the operational overheads and labour budget / forecast.
- Communicate, monitor and ensure compliance to all relevant legislation and SHEQ systems, standards & procedures.
- Recommend, motivate and manage process and equipment changes via the official modification and ECP process.
- Maintain discipline and comply with company policies, practices and procedures.
What Qualifications You Should Have
- NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree) BSC/BTech in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Government Certificate Competency (GCC).
- Registration as Pr Eng will be an advantage.
- Occupational safety, health and environmental awareness qualification would be an advantageous.
- At least 6 to 10 years’ experience in Mechanical & Electrical maintenance engineering management within a Manufacturing engineering industry.
- At least 6 years’ experience as a Maintenance/Factory Engineer (GCC Appointee) on production/Manufacturing plants of which 3 years should have been in a supervisory position.
- Proven experience in working with 1000T Hydraulic Presses.
- Proven experience in maintaining Heat treatment.
- Proven experience in managing and controlling of Suppliers or maintenance.
- Experience with CNC machines would be advantageous.
- Financial management skills would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of SHE/OHS/Quality Systems would be advantageous.
- Explosives Act and relevant legislation would be advantageous.
- Analytical thinker with good reasoning and problem-solving skills on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Has ability to work under pressure to meet delivery dates.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in maintenance of machinery and equipment is essential.
- Decision-maker, motivated and self-disciplined.
- Proactive, investigative with tenacity & initiative.
- Planning and prioritization of multiple tasks, Organisational and administrative skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
