Vogue Business was launched by Condé Nast in 2019 to help fashion and beauty professionals stay ahead of the trends shaping the industry. We offer a global perspective on fashion and beauty, tapping into the authority and cultural connectedness of the Vogue brand.

We are seeking a Tech Editor to lead Vogue Business’s tech and innovation coverage.

You’ll be reporting on fashion tech news, the movements of big tech within the fashion, beauty and luxury sphere and the trends impacting the industry. This could include the dawn of AI, changes happening to social platforms and the fluctuations of cryptocurrencies.

The Tech Editor will oversee the weekly Tech Edit newsletter, be the face of tech-focused events and work with our executive editors to commission freelancers. The ideal candidate is a journalist with a background in digital editorial operations and/or business reporting, with strong contacts within the tech industry, who can write about tech with authority for an informed professional audience. The Tech Editor will report to the Executive Americas Editor while working closely with the entire editorial team.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage the weekly Tech Edit newsletter, overseeing content planning, data collation and crafting the editor’s letter.
  • Write at least two stories a week on emerging trends in the tech industry, pivoting to important breaking news as and when necessary.
  • Regularly interview CEOs, CMOs, founders and high-profile executives of major brands, startups and conglomerates.
  • Host and build forums, podcasts and events with key industry figures.
  • Write investigative, longer-format articles with a wide range of sources on broader industry issues.
  • Build and maintain sources across the industry.
  • Source images, videos and charts to enhance our story-telling across the website and social platforms.
  • Help build Vogue Business’s coverage and profile with new formats and series.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Vogue Business team for dual byline stories.

Who you are:

  • Proven background in journalism and reporting with experience in tech, business and trends.
  • Confidence in working to tight deadlines within a dynamic and fast-paced digital newsroom is essential.
  • Strong interest in exploring and reporting on news, brands, conglomerates and uncovering emerging industry trends.
  • Proven ability to balance next-day news coverage with in-depth investigative reporting.
  • Knowledge of the tech industry, from small brands to big luxury conglomerates, PRs and creative and marketing agencies.
  • Have a growing network of contacts, including C-level executives.
  • Possess a global perspective, with the insight and networks necessary to operate beyond the UK industry.
  • Experience working with digital tools, including CMS and newsletter platforms.
  • An ideas generator, eager to uncover original stories and angles.
