Job Description
- The successful candidate will join as the RF Planning and Capacity Manager in the Network Department.
- (S)He will report to the Head, of RF Planning and Optimization.
- The selected applicant will be responsible for designing and planning the 2G/3G radio network to ensure that the network is in its best health and network deployments are in line with coverage, capacity, and quality demands to meet AT KPls, regulatory KPls, customer experience, and revenue objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Radio Coverage Planning:
- Designing and planning of the 2G/ 3G radio network to ensure the most cost-effective technical solution is deployed.
- Responsible for the nominal plan in line with the coverage and capacity guideline (choice of BTS configuration and link budget), with support received from RNO specialist
- Responsible for the daily 2G/ 3G design and planning, IBS, Repeaters (outdoor & indoor), Micro PICO and TSS deliverables per agreed timelines.
- Maintain a high level of 2G/3G data integrity in Planning Tool and ensure radio, site, & CGI databases have a high data integrity
- To deliver technical site survey report to the project/rollout team ensuring the choice of the right site candidates from a radio standpoint
Capacity Management
- Engaging with Strategy, RAN, Transmission & Core teams to provide detailed radio requirements for rollout of new sites, BSC, RNC upgrades.
- Traffic analysis and planning for expansions (BSC, DCS, TRX, RNC, Channel Elements, 2nd Carrier, Code, IUB, etc.) to ensure capacity.
KPIs
- Radio Network Utilization within agreed thresholds
- Radio Network KPls within agreed thresholds
Qualification Required & Experience
- Bachelor’ s degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering 4 years’ experience in a similar role
- Highly proficient with cellular network design & operational, telecoms principles, cellular wireless technologies, radio access network design theory a Proficient in frequency/scrambling code and neighbour planning.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
Core Competencies
- Understanding of RF topology and propagation characteristics, including but not limited to 2G/3G/4G/5G technologies based on the 3GPP reference architectures
- Self-motivated, able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests as well as collaborating with others to utilize resources and knowledge in delivering high-quality solutions
- Strong organizational skills: ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed-upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively
- Strong follow-up skills: ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs as needed
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage for results
- Strong mapping skills, including experience working with professional-grade mapping software
- Desire to learn and understand new wireless infrastructure offering
