Job Description
The Grand Canyon South Rim, located north of the gateway town of Tusayan, Arizona spans 278 miles (447 km) of the Colorado River and surrounding uplands. Situated on the ancestral lands of 11 present-day Tribal Communities, the Grand Canyon is renowned for its extraordinary erosion features—a mile-deep canyon offering breathtaking vistas from both the north and south rims.
Café
Summary: the Café Associate requires the flexibility to work with customers serving grab-n-go foods items and purchasing retail items.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with grab-n-go food purchases
- Clean and maintain all assigned areas throughout shift, keeping all “First Guest Fresh”
- Prepare and serve customer drink orders
- Achieve and maintain product knowledge to assist customers with purchasing decisions
- Guide and direct customers to appropriate products of interest and answer related inquiries
- Assist customers with all park related inquiries (utilizing approved NPS interpretive information)
- Assist customers making selections by building customer confidence; offering suggestions and opinions
- Accurately total, process and collect payments from guests to include, but not limited to, using the point-of-sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards and making change
- Restock and maintain displays (labeling correctly as needed) per Company standards
- Work individually and with the team to surpass expectations in an efficient, motivated, and positive can-do manner.
- Assist in common areas; sweep, setup/breakdown chairs, open/close shutters, wipe down and sanitize all surfaces, empty trash, clean bathrooms, and consolidate trash into black containers
- Obtain ServSafe certification
- Help to ensure that windows and doors are all locked at close of business day
- Provide timely, courteous, and professional service to all guests
- Follow all health and safety standards, policies, and initiatives
- All other duties as may be assigned
Requirements
- Knowledge of food storage and sanitation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities
- Knowledge of POS system
- Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
- Majority of shift will be spent on feet in a fast-paced environment and in proximity of other people
- Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and squatting will be required.
- Always maintain a positive and upbeat attitude to ensure an excellent guest experience.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
Education & Experience
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: One (1) year of Customer Service experience
One (1) year of food service experience
