Job Description

As part of the Employment Program Team you will be enjoy a fast-paced, passionate and fun team-oriented environment. You will support ex-defence personnel and/or their Partners to find meaningful and sustainable employment. The work done by this hard-working team has been recognised by the Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Program awards in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 for Excellence in Supporting Partner and/or Veteran Employment.

In this role, you will have the proven ability to:

  • Build relationships via phone with clients (Veterans and their family members) to understand their employment aspirations, and work with them to outline transferable skills for the civilian job market
  • Use previous recruitment, talent acquisition or employment services experience to determine the appropriate level of job-seeking support services and/or provide referral pathways to vocational providers
  • Write customised and professional resumes and cover letters with attention to detail
  • Assist with interpreting and responding to key selection criteria and advise on the creation of LinkedIn profiles
  • Experience in transition to work programs (including apprenticeships and traineeships),
  • Providing pre-employment advice and guidance
  • Provide coaching of interview techniques

This position is based in across two offices – one in Fortitude Valley and in our new Veteran and Family Wellbeing Centre in Stafford. There will be some work from home flexibility a number of days per week.

You Will Also Possess

  • Degree in either Allied Health, Vocational Education, Human Services, Social Services or Human Resources desirable OR Certificate IV in Career Development Rehabilitation Counselling/Case Management students/new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • OR 2+ years’ experience in either Allied Health, Vocational Education, Human Services, Social Services or Human Resources
  • OR 2+ years’ employment services experience
  • OR 2+ years case management experience
  • Experience delivering employment workshops, briefings and information sessions to clients and/or stakeholders
  • Contemporary knowledge of the labour market in addition to higher education options for the purposes of career counselling
  • Must have confident and proficient in use of Microsoft Office
  • Queensland Open Drivers licence (must)
