About the Position: As a Data Scientist within CECOM G8’s Command Financial Analysis Office (CFAO), responsible for performing financial analysis functions spanning the PPBE process to promote financial operations visibility and improve resource management performance.

Job Description

  • Serve as a Data Scientist in the HQ, Communications Electronics Command (CECOM), Deputy Chief of Staff for Resource Management, G8 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
  • Responsible for planning, conducting, and presenting complex financial systems analyses utilizing knowledge and application of computer science, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific principles.
  • Develops and applies methods to identify, collect, clean, process, and analyze large volumes of data to build and enhance products, processes, and systems.
  • Drive innovation and deliver expert business intelligence with respect to data governance, data visualization, data analysis and management capabilities, organizational capacity, and analytics infrastructure.
  • Compiles and analyzes data to identify potential problems, trends, and benefits; and makes recommendations to improve program operations.
  • Prepares papers, reports, and dashboards to provide managers or leadership with objectively based information derived from the use of advanced business models, mathematical, and statistical principles and theories.

The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. or Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. and Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Formulating analytical/mathematical models to analyze financial data; 2) Planning and conducting, as project lead or member of a study team, relevant research, and analytical studies of Army problems to support critical operational problems and/or decisions; AND 3) Creating and presenting analytical reports for senior leadership. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11).
