Job Summary

This position serves as the primary coordinating position for transfer student orientation programs, transfer extended orientation, transfer peer mentoring program, and transfer student engagement efforts. This is a grant funded position and had to be renewed each year.

MAJOR DUTIES

Responsible for offering transfer sessions during orientation and transitions programs.

Plan and implement transition transfer day with TCC.

Plan, coordinate, and assess transfer programs, in coordination with Director of Student Engagement and Transitions and University partners.

Promote transfer participation in transition programs by creating transfer specific communication.Conducts assessment and tracks retention of participants.

Co-facilitate a transfer student portion of Welcome Week and semester program for transfer students with Director of Student Engagement and Transitions.

Plans, coordinates, and implements TCC to NSU peer and mentor coaching program, modeled after the Consortium program and incorporating elements of the InsideTrack coaching model.

Create and advise a transfer student cohort or learning community to further help students stay connected with NSU.

Create a transfer student organization and promote transfer student honor society.

Maintain transfer website to highlight programs and opportunities for transfer students.

Promote student organizations and transfer student involvement.

The position requires frequent weekend and evening hours.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Director of Student Engagement and Transitions assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks the work as it is being done and spot-checks the completed work for compliance with established procedures, work accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results of the work.

GUIDELINES

Guidelines include department and university policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

The work consists of a broad scope of responsibilities.This person must evaluate and prioritize multiple ongoing projects.Individual must interact with individuals both in and outside the university, including parents and community partners.

The purpose of this position is to ensure that a successful student transitions to the university. It is integral to orientation, engagement, and retention initiatives on campus.

CONTACTS

Contacts are typically with co-workers and other student affairs staff, faculty members and academic assistant deans, parents, incoming and prospective students, community partners, current students.

Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, and to provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

This position has direct supervision over multiple student employees for Transfer students.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Previous experience in orientation or retention programs.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s in Higher Education or related field preferred

Annual salary $36,444.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
