Clinical Systems Documentation Consultant

Summary:

Supports Lifepoint Rehab clinical documentation and audit processes through collaboration with operational leadership, compliance dept and field clinical and denial teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist AVP Clinical Serices-Audits/Appeals in managing documentation integrity and quality.
  • Has thorough understanding of inpatient rehab documentation technical requirements as well as quality documentation expectations.
  • Working knowledge of IRF daily operations.
  • Knowledge of CMS IRF conditions of participation and conditions of payment.
  • Understanding the IRF Medicare Benefits Policy manual and implications for IRF environment.
  • Knowledge/understanding of the IRF denials/appeals process.
  • Timely completion of documentation reviews and monitoring.
  • Ensure field understandng of documentation review process; provide education as indicated.
  • Provide structured reporting and feedback to Lifepoint Operations and Lifepoint Compliance.
  • Provides education and support in collaboration with quality directors and compliance for sites of service requiring corrective action.
  • Assist in development of clinical documentation products and education materials.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certification:

  • If Bachelors in rehab discipline then licensed by or eligible for licensure in respective state as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist. Nurses should be licensed in their respective states.

Experience:

  • Four years of clinical experience. A minimum of two years in adult Inpatient Rehab, Long Term Acute Care Hospitals.
