- Translational Research in Childhood Cancer, Haematopoietic Transplantation and Cell Therapy GroupOrganisation/Company: IdiPAZDepartment: Translational Research in Childhood Cancer, Haematopoietic Transplantation and Cell Therapy GroupResearch Field: Biological sciences » BiologyCountry: SpainApplication Deadline: 25 Jan 2025 – 23:00 (Europe/Brussels)Type of Contract: PermanentJob Status: Full-timeHours Per Week: 37.50Offer Starting Date: 1 Feb 2025Offer DescriptionIdiPAZ is looking for a research assistant in a project co-financed by the Community of Madrid and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), 2021-2027, for the Pediatric Extracranial Solid Tumors group, led by Dr. Adriana Mañas, part of the Translational Research in Childhood Cancer, Hematopoietic Transplantation, and Cell Therapy (GICITT) group, led by Dr. Pérez-Martínez.The candidate will participate directly in projects focused on the creation and characterisation of patient-derived models and their use as avatars to develop new personalised treatments for paediatric solid tumours.The objectives of the main project include:Implantation of patient tumour samples in immunosuppressed mice (PDX models).Treatment of PDX models with chemotherapy and characterisation of tumour response by RNA analysis and histological techniques.Establishment of in vitro organoid models from PDX models and characterisation of the response to chemotherapy.Use in vitro (organoid) and in vivo (PDX) models to test and validate new therapies in comparison with standard chemotherapy.The activities and functions to be performed include:Processing of patient tumour samples for preservation and implantation.Collaboration in PDX implantation, monitoring and treatment of mice, and processing of tumours for analyses.Establishment of in vitro PDX-derived tumour organoid cultures.Extraction and basic bioinformatics analysis of RNA from tumours and organoids.Processing of tumours and organoids for histological analysis.Treatment of tumour organoids with therapies and analysis of viability and cytotoxicity.Where to applyE-mail: ****** Level: Master’s Degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology/Biomedicine/Translational Medicine or similar.Skills/Qualifications:Highly motivated professional.Analytical and organisational skills.Teamwork.Specific Requirements:Previous experience in cell culture.Basic experience in biomolecular analysis techniques (Western Blot, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR).High level (C1) of spoken and written English.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).A positive assessment would be an asset:Previous experience in tumour organoid culture.Experience with paediatric cancer models.Certificate for working with animals (Functions A, B and C).Knowledge of specific software (GraphPad, FlowJo, ImageJ).Additional InformationWorking conditions:Contract for scientific and technical activities
