About The Role

We are seeking an inquisitive Data Scientist who will help us develop creative solutions to the broad business problems we are solving. Our team is at the forefront of solving everyday problems faced by a wide variety of renters and landlords. This role will focus specifically on empowering our landlord persona by building the best consumer experiences with data-driven insights.

You Will Get To:

  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and Data Engineers to analyze terabytes of data to improve our understanding of how landlords interact with Zillow products.
  • Use advanced analytics including regression modeling, statistical knowledge, and other explanatory and causal inference techniques to gain a clearer picture of customer behavior.
  • Run experiments and AB tests to enhance the product and user experience on our platforms
  • Build compelling data stories, provide recommendations for our product roadmap, and influence decision makers.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $123,200.00 – $196,800.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

We’re seeking an experienced data scientist with the following qualifications:

  • An undergraduate or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. data science, engineering, economics, finance, statistics, or similar)
  • Interested in working on innovative solutions to problems in the private real estate space
  • 3+ years of data science experience, with experience working with product teams strongly preferred.
  • Experience with event-based clickstream data (e.g. Google Analytics)
  • Proficiency in statistics, A/B testing, causal impact analyses
  • Proficient in scientific programming, including data manipulation, modeling, and visualization in Python and SQL
  • Ability to conduct independent research and apply research methods to real-world problems.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present results to both technical and non technical audiences
