The Role & Team:
- The Strategy & Operations team’s mission is to create and help operationalize actionable and data informed initiatives across the organization based on BI’s vision and strategy. Its goals are to establish and improve aligned and clear strategies, actionable and sound analytics, and operational excellence across the entire organization.
- The Strategy & Operations team is made up of the Analytics, Insights & Research team and a Project Management Office.
- Within BI’s Strategy & Operations team, the VP Analytics will lead and build the analytics, insights and research function and team.
- The VP will work with the Project Management team and other business leaders to set goals and inform decision making based on data and competitive intelligence
- The analytics, insights and research team directly oversees the editorial analytics and insights teams and has a dotted line to analytics teams in other business functions
- Set the benchmark for data integrity, actionable insights and reports, and testing
This person is a leader in the newly established strategy and operations team, and a central point of reference and excellence for analysts across the organization. This person is a world-class communicator who is comfortable explaining research, data and insights to Insider’s executive team through memos, decks, and off-the-cuff in high-level meetings.
The VP, Analytics reports directly into the SVP, Strategy & Operations and sits on the Strategy & Operations team. The position is based in our New York City HQ with an in-office presence of at least 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for aligning goals and KPIs to overall and departmental strategy and objective.
- Establish dotted lines to other analytics operators in the organization to create a hub and spoke model for analytics.
- Own engagement goal-setting for the editorial team, helping to create ambitious but achievable engagement goals across the newsroom at all levels based on opportunity and business need.
- Consistently evaluate workflow and communication channels to identify areas where we can improve tooling and logistics for greater efficiency.
- Develop dashboards to optimize both tactical and strategic decision making
- Work with product & technology team and operational units to consistently improve data integrity, access and utility
- Analyze demographics and psychographics of our audience in depth informing strategies for both the newsroom and business units.
- Build centralized traffic competence center to predict traffic patterns and triage issues based on velocity and different sources of traffic.
- Create process of competitive benchmarking and rigor across newsroom, business and product.
The Ideal Candidate Has:
- Experience and a deep understanding of the media industry and its current landscape.
- Excellent analytical and data skills.
- Outstanding communication skills. An ability to communicate complex topics concisely but without over-simplifying.
Salary & Benefits:
- Base Salary: $200,000 – $250,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
