Data Scientist

ROLE –

We are expanding our IT staff and capabilities, and looking for a skilled data scientist who can collect large amounts of disconnected data using analytical, statistical, and programmable skills and present them in a meaningful way to extract insights and inform decision-making. The responsibility of the data scientist will be to use this data to develop solutions tailored to meet the organization’s unique needs.

This this a full-time onsite position located in Hauppauge, Long Island NY. Only applicants with current valid US work permits should apply (no contractors or remote employees).

Qualifications –

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, computer science/engineering, or related field
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong SQL knowledge
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Experience in data visualization and presenting data in graph or pictorial format
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in designing algorithms and using statistical and problem structuring methods
• Ability to clean and validate data to ensure uniformity and accuracy
• Ability to use linear and non-linear regression, logistic regression, models and classification techniques for data analysis, clustering, dimensionality reduction, k-NN and pipeline
• Proficiency in mathematical computing
• Interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in various programming languages such as Java, C#, and Python along with strong coding skills

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE (3-5+years)-

• Proven development experience in a SQL/C#/Python/Java
• Strong knowledge and experience developing in Microsoft Power BI to effectively communicate findings through compelling data visualizations like charts, graphs, and dashboards.
• Build working relationships within the business and team members using effective communication skills and analyze business requirements to provide critical and accurate data
• Design, develop, and optimize SQL database systems, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security
• Possess the skills to clean, transform, and prepare raw data for analysis by handling missing values, outliers, and inconsistencies.
• Ability to apply statistical methods to identify patterns and trends within the data, including regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and clustering algorithms.
• Actively develop, implement, and maintain standards ensuring compliance to change control processes, relevant industry standards, government, and departmental policies
• Experience in gathering data from diverse sources, including structured and unstructured data, from disparate systems, using techniques like web scraping, APIs, and database queries.

Deesirable But Not Required –

• Knowledge in AI technologies in a distribution-based environment
• Experience in other commercial applications (ERP, MRP, Manufacturing, Distribution, Inventory Management, Warehouse Operations, etc.)
• Knowledge in developing and maintaining Data warehouses
