The position
The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is an institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2012 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation. The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa – Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili and Nyamira. The Hospital is seeking to attract interested and qualified candidates for the following professional position:
SECURITY COORDINATOR – KISUMU
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Manager – Security and Logistics, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe physical facility and secure environment to patients, families, staff, students, interns/volunteers, visitors, and contractors and to protect property by ensuring compliance with applicable hospital and government regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Help in developing programs to sensitize employees on matters of security.
- Lead investigations into matters related to security.
- Establish efficient means of detecting, gathering intelligence and reporting criminal acts.
- Liaise with all stakeholders to develop and enforce standard operating procedures.
- Participate in effective security management, contracting and enforcement.
- Work with Manager Security and Logistics and conduct the Hospital security audits including outreach centers.
- Prepare audit reports for the supervisor’s review and approvals.
- Participate in the Hospital security risk assessment, identification and recommend mitigation measures that align with the Hospital’s and regional risk-management requirements.
- Relay accurate information and prepare required records and reports.
- Assist Manager Security and Logistics develop security training manuals and update existing manuals.
- Respond to feedback from internal and external clients (Staff, Patients) about security services.
- Participate in the quality agenda by reviewing policies / plans, monitoring compliance and Quality Indicators.
- Availability to respond to emergencies when called upon.
- Participate in Hospitals Climate Change Agenda.
The requirements
- Diploma or degree in Criminology and Security Studies or any related course from a recognized institution.
- At least three (3) years of experience in security management either in police, military, or Corporate security.
- Familiarity with Electronic Security Management systems e.g. CCTV Camera operations, Biometric Access Control and VHF or Satellite radio communication.
- Experience in criminal investigations, first aid and fire safety.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to effectively coordinate activities of various sections.
- Registration with a relevant professional body and in good standing.
