Bancroft is currently seeking an Risk Management Specialist to join our team in Cherry Hill, NJ. This will be a hybrid position, 3 days on site.
Under the direction of the Director of Quality Management, The Risk Management Specialist is responsible for reviewing and investigating incidents in all levels of care provided at Bancroft, complying with state and payor reporting requirements, facilitating necessary staff trainings, participating in various committees, and supporting Risk & Quality program initiatives. The Risk Management Specialist also provides feedback, guidance, and education to other departments to manage and proactively address risk issues.
- Conducts full cycle investigations of alleged incidents which may include injury, abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation of persons served or staff in accordance with established Bancroft policies and procedures.
- Submits investigation reports internally and externally in accordance with set deadlines to ensure compliance with funders and licensing bodies.
- Implement, educate and encourage incident reporting throughout the organization to promote accuracy and full disclosure of unusual incidents.
- Travel as needed to off-site programs to aid investigations, compliance matters, and training as deemed necessary by the Director of Risk Management.
- Provide on-call assistance as needed related to investigations according to company policy/procedure and licensing agencies.
- Conducts meetings with program leadership and program safety walk throughs to address risks and safety issues identified in investigations in order to prevent future incidents and to minimize the operational risk and impact on Bancroft.
- Identifies organizational risks and keeps the Director of Quality Management continually informed of critical situations that may impact the organization, persons served, and staff to ensure potential issues of concern are promptly addressed and resolved.
- Conducts follow up for compliance line calls that trigger investigations specific to person served treatment or guardian dissatisfaction.
- Assists the Director of Quality Management in facilitating trainings on preventing abuse, neglect, exploitation, rights violations, ethics and boundaries. Supports the department in responding to specific requests from licensing and other state agencies for results of investigations and other information related to alleged incidents of injury, abuse, neglect, exploitation of persons served, or other types of events.
Education & Experience
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in clinical healthcare, risk management, social work, education, human services or related field is required.
- Required either a minimum of three years of experience working with people with disabilities, neurological challenges or mental illness; or a minimum of three years of experience in healthcare risk management, conducting investigations of abuse, neglect or exploitation.
- Prior experience in quality management and/or, healthcare risk management preferred.
