Cedar is looking for a full-time Sub Editor to join its team on the Tesco account. Ideally you will have a passion for food and some experience of working with recipes. You will certainly be a team player, with a can-do, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and take on responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities For This Role Include
Sub-editing copy across Tesco magazine and the wider Tesco account, including content for Tesco Real Food website, Tesco social media channels, ad hoc pieces of work, supplements and client presentations
Sub-editing layouts for Tesco magazine, including fitting and finalising copy, finding/chasing missing information, and ensuring all elements are included on the page as planned
Sub-editing other ad hoc layouts, such as recipe cards and supplements
Identifying and flagging potentially contentious/legal/nutrition issues etc
Writing heads and sells
Writing ad hoc editorial and promotional copy
Working with the Tesco magazine food team and a nutritionist to tweak recipes when required, under guidance of the Deputy Chief Sub/Chief Sub
Liaising with our nutritionist to obtain GDAs and health claim information for recipes
Circulating pages to, then accurately taking in amends from, the internal team
Ensuring external stakeholders see relevant content for feedback/approval, taking in amends and suggesting feedback as necessary, and tracking progress of all elements you work on
Helping to ensure all pages are signed off by clients and other stakeholders, and the correct version of each page goes to print
Helping to ensure schedules are adhered to and deadlines are met
Skills And Expertise Include
Proven experience as a sub editor
Flawless attention to detail
Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Word and Excel) and Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign); experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint is also useful.
A good awareness of media law
Ability to manage workflow independently, through a strong sense of initiative and a positive attitude to meeting deadlines
Aptitude for problem-solving and the ability to think creatively
An excellent all-round communicator
Willingness to assist the wider team when possible
