About This Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operator to be a Team member in the daily operations of our brand-new gas processing plant in the Alhambra area near Rocky Mountain House, AB. While reporting to the Sr Plant Foreman, the ideal candidate will play a key role in the preplanning and design reviews, dry and wet commissioning, start-up, and operation of the facility while ensuring all systems are running efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. We are forecasting this facility to be onstream in Q3 of 2025 and with this area being a focal point of Paramount Operations, this Region will continue be an area of growth and development for several years to come.
The candidate must reside locally within 70 kilometers of Leslieville, AB
Job functions will involve:
- Plant Operations: Lead the safe and efficient operation of gas processing systems, including separation, compression, refridge, stabilization, and liquids handling for the end project of 150MM gas and 30,000bbls/d of condensate..
- Participate in review, modifications or development of facility procedures.
- Start-up, operate and shut down unit operations within the gas plant.
- Participate in SOP development as required.
- Review, understand and fully utilize Paramount’s safety and operational procedures and standards in performing all facets of work.
- Ensuring that liquids, gas or power products meet specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot process upsets, take action to resolve issues.
- Start-Up & Commissioning: Collaborate with the construction team and engineers to ensure successful plant commissioning.
- Maintenance Oversight: Work with maintenance Team to schedule and oversee equipment checks, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements, including ABSA, AER, and Environmental guidelines are met and exceeded. Complete incident reporting and participate in incident investigations as required.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Utilize control systems to monitor plant performance and generate regular operational reports.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost savings, and increased operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Must have accomplished a High School Diploma
- GPO/PFO A – D or Power Engineering 4 th class or higher certification required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Plant operator role
- Valid H2S and First Aid certifications and hold a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Ability to maximize production through process optimization
- Process Experience includes, but not limited to:
- PLC/DCS/Spartan Delta V
- Glycol de-hydration and Mole sieve de-hydration
- Refrigeration
- Deep cut turbo expander
- Inlet/sales compression
- Pipeline pigging/integrity
- Inlet separation
- NGL Recovery
- Condensate stabilization
- Hot Oil and Salt bath heater
- Good understanding of business concepts in order to minimize costs
- Must be a strong team player with excellent communication, problem solving, decision-making, well organized, reliable and excellent attention to detail skills
- Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to learn, adhere and work with all Paramount based software programs
- Proactive and self-starter that demonstrates initiative and an entrepreneurial attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, partners and stakeholders
- Have a creative, open-minded approach with the ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Ability to provide shift coverage upon request.
- Participate in ERP training
- Required to work 7 days on, 7 days off shift (12 hour shifts) that will rotate between day and night shifts
