About The Department

The Institutional Business Development team plays a key role in fostering relationships with institutional clients, consultants, and prospects. By leveraging internal resources and market insights, the team supports abrdn’s growth in the institutional asset management space while delivering exceptional client service.

About The Role

Salary – $100,000 – $153,500

As an Associate, Institutional Business Development, you will support a team of 2–3 senior colleagues in Institutional Sales, Consultant Relations, and Relationship Management. Your role will involve collaborating with internal teams to optimize the sales and client relationship process, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop your expertise with the potential to grow into a senior role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shadow senior Institutional Sales, Consultant Relations, and Relationship Management colleagues to gain a deep understanding of their territory, channel, clients, and consultant relationships.
  • Coordinate all aspects of external meetings, including preparation, materials, and follow-up.
  • Ensure the accuracy of client, prospect, and consultant contact information in Salesforce and manage targeted marketing lists.
  • Conduct market intelligence to uncover trends, search activity, and competitor insights, and develop strategies to capitalize on these opportunities.
  • Identify target audiences for abrdn’s strategies and coordinate effective touchpoints with your team.
  • Manage RFP screening and coordination, including prequalification, review, and fee proposals.
  • Conduct competitor and peer analysis.
  • Maintain pipelines, Client at Risk reports, Consultant Ratings, and other critical data.
  • Coordinate outreach strategies for industry conferences and events.
  • Participate in initiatives across the Institutional Business Development team to support overall success.

About The Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Series 7 required.
  • Demonstrable industry experience in institutional asset management.
  • Strong understanding of institutional channels (e.g., public funds, corporate, endowment and foundation, Taft-Hartley, and insurance market segments) and the Institutional Consultant community.
  • Analytical ability and a solid understanding of investment products and capital markets.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
