PRIMARY PURPOSE
Support the programmatic elements of the Student and Family Wellness Center of Collin County, a collaborative initiative aimed at addressing the mental health needs of children and adolescents.
- This position is grant-funded, and the length of the assignment depends on funding availability.
Essential Functions
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Monitor the program goals and maintain records regarding grant funded activities.
- Work collaboratively with the grants specialist to ensure accurate budgeting and expenditure procedures and other appropriate fiscal procedures are followed.
- Ensure all expenses are allocable to grant program guidelines.
- Ensure all grant-related reports and requirements are completed on time with accurate information.
- Work collaboratively with subgrantees and all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of program priorities. Organize and facilitate cross-disciplinary teams to support program operations.
- Supervise and oversee day-to-day activities at clinic locations.
- Collect and analyze outcome data. Recommend program revisions where appropriate.
- Consult with and support campus staff including administrators, counselors, and teachers for students who are served in the center’s programs.
- Work with the campus nurse, counselor, or other staff to refer students and parents to appropriate school-based services and community resource providers as needed.
- Provide training and support for interns and subgrantees in applying MISD policy and procedures.
- Oversee the written and online parent education materials and coordinate with community partners and internal stakeholders to plan parent engagement events.
- Coordinate with special populations as needed as well as the teachers to assist students.
- Maintain current knowledge of community resources and share as appropriate.
- Provide service coordination (assistance in obtaining services from government agencies and community service organizations).
- When appropriate, consult with school professionals, parents, and outside agencies in developing crisis intervention plans for students.
- Develop engaging professional development opportunities for teachers, counselors and other school staff on mental health and other topics including identification of students who may need additional support.
- Participate in community activities that foster rapport and mutual respect between the District and the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Posture: Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds.)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise; occasional districtwide and statewide travel; ability to transport materials/supplies to be used in presentations and in work sessions with teachers.
Mental Demands: Ability to work collaboratively with the campus principal; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); coordinate district functions; ability to problem-solve, to work collaboratively with others, and to work on multiple projects/tasks within a given period of time.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board Policy on Evaluations.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And Experience
Three years of teaching experience (preferred)
Requirements
Experience as a school counselor or administrator (preferred)
Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, or a closely related field
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Valid ESL Supplemental certificate (preferred)
Valid Special Education Supplemental (preferred)
Master’s degree in counseling or administration (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Understanding of the physical and emotional needs of students
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Bilingual (preferred)
