Key Responsibilities
- Providing technical expertise as required to the Data team and input to technical projects
- Providing a common thread for Data delivery activities from inception, through delivery, into operational running
- Troubleshooting performance issues
- Leading analysis and resolution of data issues
- Ability to work under pressure, focusing on resolving issues, and delivering to deadlines
- Working within an ITIL framework to manage incidents, problems and system changes
- Supporting the development of the MI and Data team, the creation of a data platform and MI reporting capabilities

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Educated to degree level or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrable experience of SQL coding of stored procedures and functions
- ETL/ELT Skills using SQL and custom scripts, preferably Python
- Experience of working with heterogeneous data sources including REST APIs, SQL databases, NoSQL databases
- Experience of version-control systems such as Azure DevOps and / or Git
- An understanding of logical and physical database design and the different concepts behind OLTP, OLAP and Data Warehousing
- Experienced with MS SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL
- Ideally exposure to NoSQL database technologies and a desire to learn and work with new data platforms
- Ideally exposure to big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Apache Iceberg
- Ideally exposure to Power BI
- Enquiring approach to work, a methodical approach to solving problems and an attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team and with people across the organisation
- An understanding of information security, data security and data governance
- An ability to investigate different technologies and provide guidance on the best fit for requirements
