Job Description
This position functions as a Data Scientist responsible for independently designing and developing data-based solutions to complex analysis and projects in support of a wide variety of agency initiatives. The Data Scientist supports data management, data analysis, and performance reporting at ONSE.
Duties And Responsibilities
Manipulates, manages, query, analyzes, and summarizes data from open source, District, and ONSE data sources into cohesive reports in support of the agency’s responsibilities. Data can come in the form of a database, financial records, expense reports, emails, and other formats. Researches and develops increasingly complex statistical and analytical information and modeling on a variety of data including trends, projections, and supporting information necessary for effective presentations and analytical products. Develops scripts, queries, or software codes to accomplish specific requirements or tasks. Designs, builds, and tests data models, algorithms, and predictive models. Coordinates and maintains relationships with managers, supervisors, and other agency personnel to ensure analytical products support the mission of ONSE.
Qualifications And Education
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is the experience that is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. Or Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in the paragraph above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

Tour of Duty: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm; (Hours of work will vary as required by the needs of the program to include split days off and fluctuating tour of duty, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.)
