Position Responsibilities
- Maintain rodent colonies, preform genotyping and animal husbandry.
- Perform tail vein injection and laser induced ocular injury models.
- Tissue collection and processing-cryopreservation, cryosectioning, immunocytochemistry, PCR/qPCR, western blotting.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records.
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask.
- Work independently and collaboratively on research tasks.
- Perform day-to-day lab tasks (e.g., stocking supplies etc.).

Required Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or other biological science, or an appropriate combination of education and years of experience working in an academic research environment.
- Experience with animal husbandry and the maintenance of mouse breeding colonies.
- Experience with standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques (e.g., animal tissue sample collection, PCR/qPCR, and Western blot), common cell biology techniques (e.g., immunocytochemistry/immunohistochemistry).
- Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with Macintosh and PC computers, including the applications Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Photoshop is desirable.
- Basic understanding of standard molecular biology and biochemical techniques (e.g. nucleic acid extraction, PCR/qPCR, ICC/IHC, Western blot, etc.).
- Experience with rodent disease modeling and tail vein injections.
