Job Description

The role of the Business Officer is to provide high quality business advice and support on a range of financial, human resource, IT, information management, planning and reporting and other administrative issues to the management and staff in the service centre and/or the regional office.

This is undertaken by leading, supervising and provision of workload management and support of an administration team. They are also responsible to support their Manager and wider workgroup in all things administrative, financial, human resource and resource compliance management.

This is to ensure that the Service Centre has tight internal controls in place, and where deficiencies are identified will work towards corrective actions when they arise.

There Are 2 Temporary Positions Available

  • Ipswich Intake & Assessment CSSC until 31 December 2025
  • Ipswich South CSSC until 1 August 2025

**Note that both positions have the possibility of extension past these dates.**

The Business Officer’s Key Responsibilities Are

  • Provide central contact in your Service Centre for and high quality business advice and support on a range of financial, human resource, IT, information management, planning and reporting, and other administrative issues to the management and staff.
  • Supervise a team of administrative staff.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant human resource, financial management and other standards, policies and legislation relevant to the operations of the department.
  • Develop, implement, maintain and review comprehensive systems of administrative, financial and human resource management practices and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain management information systems and records management systems to provide relevant information and statistics.
  • Coordinate the supply and payment of all goods and services required by the Service Centre in accordance with current legislative and departmental accounting practices.
  • Actively work to ensure that the work environment is accountable and equitable by implementing current departmental management standards and policies: including performance management; equal employment opportunities; anti-discrimination; and workplace health and safety.
  • Enhance the local regional community by actively practicing and promoting excellence in service delivery and public administration and identifying opportunities for improving regional client service.
