As an analyst you will learn about and work on Python one week, power plants and the grid the next, then data visualization and advocacy after that. You’ll flex on programming and shine on communication. You’ll achieve a hybrid approach to energy economics, financial data, and visual tools. You’ll write code and build charts that explain Texas’s power last year, today, and tomorrow. We are the kind of folks who enhance life for Texans by setting the standard for excellence. You Will Be Trusted To

  • Work with analysts and stakeholders to create compelling energy market data visualizations to help drive decision making.
  • Mine and synthesize data across internal and external sources to address business opportunities and discover meaningful energy market trends. Collaborate with both business and IT partners to identify key use cases and define associated requirements.
  • Gather, scrub, analyze, and help visualize data. Uses programming to automate data gathering from internal and external sources.
  • Perform statistical analysis to mine data for relevancy and context.

You Qualify With

  • Four or more years’ experience in energy, economics, data journalism, a quantitative field or other relevant experience. A degree in a related field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.

You Are a Great Fit With

  • Experience with power markets, especially ERCOT. Familiarity with generation, transmission, real-time and day-ahead markets, renewable and dispatchable resources.
  • Experience with Snowflake, especially Snowpark for data science and Streamlit for data visualizations
  • Skilled in querying and manipulating large datasets for analysis and visualization using SQL, Python, and Power BI
  • Knowledge of basic statistical methods
