Job Description

  • Deliver nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, and defining interventions.
  • Provide comprehensive support to patients, families, and support persons for understanding conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Re-evaluate care objectives by noting changing conditions and needs.
  • Maintain quality care in adherence with professional standards, healthcare organization policies, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment, adhering to infection control, medication administration, and storage procedures.
  • Document patient care services by recording in patient and department records.
  • Monitor and report symptoms or changes in patient conditions to appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify treatment plans as indicated by patient responses and conditions.
  • Provide health education on disease prevention and management.
  • Resolve patient issues by conferring with involved parties, promoting a culture of safety, and adhering to safety practices.
  • Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, and documenting key information.
  • Administer medications, wound care, and other personalized interventions, while monitoring for reactions or side effects.
  • Prepare patients for exams and assist as needed, explaining procedures and discharge instructions to alleviate apprehension and ensure understanding.
  • Maintain IV therapy competency, including care for central lines, and quickly react in emergency situations by recognizing adverse signs and symptoms.
  • Supervise and delegate duties to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and other ancillary staff.
  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards regarding National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Perform other specified duties as assigned to uphold patient care and unit-specific competencies.
