Fairbank Lawyers is looking for a talented Law Graduate (soon to be admitted) or admitted Junior Lawyer to join our specialist Family Law practice in Melbourne’s CBD in 2025.

This opportunity is ideal for a candidate who enjoys working closely with clients, has a keen and demonstrated interest in the area of Family Law and desires close mentoring from an Accredited Family Law Specialist.

Your tasks will include a variety of challenging and interesting work including:

  • Attending and observing at Court Hearings, Mediations and client meetings alongside the firm’s Principal Lawyer.
  • Assisting in preparing briefs to Barristers.
  • Preparing disclosure briefs.
  • Assisting with Trial preparation tasks.
  • Dictaphone typing.
  • Drafting legal correspondence.
  • Legal research and analysis.
  • Research tasks.
  • Providing administrative support , including answering telephone calls, file and diary management and general correspondence to clients.

Duties

Workload and duties will increase in complexity dependent on experience, progress and learning. We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:

  • A keen interest in pursuing a career in Family Law.

  • An interest in advocacy and appearing at Court.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of our team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Client focused.
  • Punctual.
  • A desire for continued learning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and formatting of documents.
  • Previous experience in an office or company setting.

A competitive salary is on offer for this role, in addition to other benefits. Part-time (4 days minimum) and full-time candidates will be considered.
