PRESIDENTIAL CHARGE AND SCOPE OF APPOINTMENT

Position: Living and Learning Coordinator
Department/Division: Living & Learning Communities/Student Affairs
Salary Range: $12.86 per hour
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Position Duration: Full-time/12 months
Position Schedule: Various shifts with some weekends
Essential Functions
- Conducts formal and informal interviews with each resident to gain knowledge and understanding of each individual.
- Creates an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect that will encourage students to discuss financial, academic, social, or personal problems and concerns.
- Assists in the recruitment, selection, training and evaluation of the Living & Learning Assistants (LLAs).
- Attends weekly staff meetings with the Director of Living and Learning Communities (LLCs).
- Conducts weekly staff meetings with hall council.
- Evaluates performance of residence hall staff (RAs and work-study students).
- Develops programs and activities for residents once every other week and one big program monthly.
- Supports events conducted outside of the LLCs for the residents whenever possible.
- Advises individual residents on personal, academic, and social matters and make referrals where appropriate.
- Responsible for providing a safe and healthy environment by enforcing University and LLC rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Responsible for preparing and submitting written requests and reports concerning LLC matters, i.e. maintenance reports, incident reports, illnesses, etc., to the Director of LLCs, Campus Safety & Security, and the VP for Student Affairs/Athletics.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) or more years of work experience in an educational setting, military background, or related field.
- Ability to relate to residents in a confidential and professional manner.
- Ability to be creative with activities
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
- Ability to organize and work with student groups, both formal and informal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standard Office Environment.
- Extended evenings, weekends, and travel may be required.
