Head of Business Affairs – Colombia

Job Description

Puntilla seeks a highly motivated and experienced Head of Business Affairs to join our dynamic music team. In this key role, you will oversee all legal and business aspects related to our artists, partners, and catalog. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the music industry, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven track record in contract management and rights administration.

Duties will include:

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including but not limited to artist recording, licensing, distribution, and partnership agreements.
  • Manage contract lifecycles, including options, renewals, amendments, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

Rights Management

  • Oversee the administration and exploitation of the company’s music catalog, including copyright registration, royalty collection, and licensing.
  • Stay informed about evolving trends and best practices in music rights management.

Business Affairs Administration

  • Develop and maintain efficient systems for contract management, rights administration, and other business affairs functions.
  • Implement and utilize relevant technologies to streamline processes.

Profitability Analysis

  • Identify and implement strategies to improve profitability and maintain healthy margins.
  • Analyze and monitor the performance of the label and distribution divisions.

Additional Duties And Skills

  • Full attention to the department’s needs, understanding the points being made, and making decisions appropriately.
  • Analyze performance data and metrics to measure the success of the department.
  • Effectively resolve client issues or disputes to maintain positive relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in business affairs or legal roles within the music industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of music industry contracts, copyright law, and licensing practices.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
