Lead studies on fiber properties, including length, strength, and bonding characteristics, and apply findings to improve substrate quality.
Study pulping processes (chemical, mechanical, and semi-chemical) and their impact on fiber properties for various applications.
Innovation and Process Development:
Apply a nature-inspired approach to material innovation, exploring bio-based coatings, additives, and novel processing techniques.
Develop formulations and processes to impart desired characteristics (e.g., hydrophobicity, strength) to bio-based substrates, especially bagasse and other agricultural residues.
Drive the application of advanced material science principles, such as nanocellulose, for enhancing substrate performance.
Scalability and Manufacturing:
Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop scalable processes for bio-based material production.
Plan and execute trials and experiments to optimize processing parameters for improved yield, strength, and sustainability.
Collaborate with partners and vendors to scale up processes, ensuring high product quality and achieving better yields at industrial scales.
Testing & Analysis:
Lead testing and evaluation of raw materials, intermediate products, and final substrates, using standardized procedures (e.g., tensile strength, tear resistance, water absorption).
Analyze test data to derive actionable insights and drive continuous product improvement.
Conduct compostability and biodegradability testing in alignment with industry standards.
Product Specification & Validation:
Develop product specifications based on scientific rationale, aligning substrate properties with desired end-product performance.
Execute incremental trial modifications and finalize product specifications for new bio-based materials.
Lead the validation of new products, ensuring they meet required performance and environmental standards.
Collaboration & Reporting:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior scientists and engineers.
Communicate research findings, progress, and product development results to stakeholders and management through technical reports and presentations.
Stay current with the latest research, industry trends, and regulatory requirements related to bio-based materials and sustainability.
Stage-Gate Process & MVP Development:
Guide projects through the stage-gate development process, from concept ideation to prototype and product trials.
Work closely with the product and process teams to finalize Minimum Viable Products (MVP) for scale-up and commercializatio
