Sunflower Bank is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Data Privacy Officer as a remote employee in one of the following states: Texas, Colorado, Kansas, Arizona, New Mexico, Missouri, Washington, Michigan, or California.
Summary
The Data Privacy Officer will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of our data privacy program, which includes both internal management and external facing processes such as disclosures and client inquires. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with all relevant data protection regulations and standards, while fostering a culture of privacy within the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive data privacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Monitor and assess the organization’s data processing activities to ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
- Conduct regular privacy impact assessments and data protection audits to identify and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy considerations into business processes and projects.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on data privacy best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up to date with changes in data protection laws and regulations, and ensure the organization adapts accordingly.
- Assist with data breach response and notification processes, including conducting investigations and reporting incident.
- Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness of data privacy issues and promote a culture of compliance.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and represent the organization in data privacy-related matters.
- Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.
- Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
- Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Data Privacy, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in data privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements (10 years+ preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of data protection laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CIPT) are a plus.
- Must be bondable.
The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $150,000 depending on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
This position is under consideration to work fully remote
