About The Role

Responsible for the end to end project management of major capital investments from study phase through to delivery, for BHP Minerals Americas.

Main Functions

  • Overriding commitment to Health, Safety and Environment standards (HSE) and BHP charter values, across all project stages.
  • Directs the overall project safety programs and ensures strict adherence to local and national regulatory safety codes.
  • Manage studies through BHP stage gates (SPS & DPS, incl. early IPS review) and governance process (IAR & IPR) to ensure project alternatives are comprehensively evaluated and the business case is fully optimized in line with KVDs (incl. through put recovery, cost, schedule, capital efficiency and ramp up).
  • Ensure project studies are concluded, for the execution phase, as per the statement of requirements (SOR) with a finalized scope of work, estimate, schedule, execution strategy (PES) and plan (PEP), permits, risk mitigations and commercial agreements.
  • Manage the project execution phase including engineering consultants and contractors (EPCM, EPC etc.) to ensure projects are successfully delivered in terms of HSE, scope, cost, cash-flow, schedule, handover to operations and ramp-up.
  • Across studies and execution, implement and actively manage key project management processes in accordance with BHP requirements including: project HR (incl. mobilization), implementation of the PEP, HSE management, engineering management, contracts & procurement management, construction management, PC&A, quality management, change management, risk management, commissioning management and operational readiness.
  • Maintains effective relations with other functional departments and alignment with stakeholders including Operations, P&T, Legal and Centres of Excellence.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Ability to work on site full time, during the execution phase.
  • Experience in mining major capital studies and large project execution (USD 500M-1B).
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate at an executive level with senior management and assets.
  • Fluency in English is preferred.
