Position: Chemist I Process Control Department: Quality Control
Location: Amelia, OH Supervisor Title: Technical Manager
POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE :
The Process Control Chemist will oversee and guide activities throughout the dispersion manufacturing process, ensuring excellence in all facets crucial to product quality. This role plays a pivotal role in strategizing production flow, maintaining batch operating guides critical for manufacturing efficiencies and meeting product quality metrics. The position requires cross-functional collaboration with scheduling, purchasing, QC, production leads, and maintenance/engineering.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Scheduling reviews for preemptive process control implementations
- Monitor’s individual batch processes and operator batch making practices. Identifies causes of non-conformances and recommends corrective action to prevent recurrence.
- Maintains batch operating guide (BOG).
- Assist Production Supervisors and Scheduler in scheduling product through the plant.
- Reviews test results of in-process and finished batches as needed.
- Maintains calibration status on specific process equipment.
- Update computer files relating to product specific process data (SPC analysis).
- Works cross-functionally to trouble-shoot and identifying process, equipment, raw materials inputs.
- Utilizes SAP for production trending, lot and shipment histories, and complaint investigations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- BS degree in Chemistry, Chem Eng or another science related degree
- 1-2 year’s experience in chemical, pigment, dispersion industry, or equivalent manufacturing experience preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact courteously with internal and external teams while ensuring interaction is clear and direct. Ability to recognize the appropriate style, level of detail, and message to manufacturing and quality leads.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work under pressure within schedules to meet immediate production needs and scheduling deadlines.
- This role requires excellent leadership skills.
- Strong math, analytical and computer skills (MS Office, SAP, Access).
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: 5 day 40hr OT required at times
