Essential Job Functions

  • Lead and coordinate laboratory operations, including workflow management and resource allocation.
  • Conduct quality control and assurance measures, implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability.
  • Professionally collaborates with healthcare professionals to provide insights and interpretations of complex test results.
  • Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
  • Prepare and analyze samples using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality control procedures.
  • Document and report test results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to testing and equipment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain certification and enhance skills.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace and equipment.
  • Support laboratory management in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Laboratory operations are conducted to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
  • Prioritize and manage workload to prevent delays and meet established turnaround time goals.
  • Competencies are maintained, and new skills are added as technologies change.
  • Inventory needs are communicated in a timely manner.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment according to policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Participate in laboratory accreditation activities as assigned and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Routine and complex instrument maintenance is performed and documented according to departmental policy.
  • Evaluate and implement new testing methodologies and technologies to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for troubleshooting technical issues and resolving operational challenges.
  • Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures, results, and quality assurance activities.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and Clinical Laboratory experience in high complexity testing; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science and Clinical Laboratory experience in high complexity testing

Licensure/Certification

  • Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Lab Technician or eligible for certification to be obtained within 12 months of date of hire.

Experience

  • Minimum two years in clinical lab setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science and Clinical Laboratory experience in high complexity testing
