Job Description
Essential Job Functions
- Lead and coordinate laboratory operations, including workflow management and resource allocation.
- Conduct quality control and assurance measures, implementing corrective actions as necessary to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability.
- Professionally collaborates with healthcare professionals to provide insights and interpretations of complex test results.
- Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
- Prepare and analyze samples using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and quality control procedures.
- Document and report test results in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to testing and equipment.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain certification and enhance skills.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace and equipment.
- Support laboratory management in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Laboratory operations are conducted to ensure a safe working environment at all times.
- Prioritize and manage workload to prevent delays and meet established turnaround time goals.
- Competencies are maintained, and new skills are added as technologies change.
- Inventory needs are communicated in a timely manner.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment according to policies and procedures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Participate in laboratory accreditation activities as assigned and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Routine and complex instrument maintenance is performed and documented according to departmental policy.
- Evaluate and implement new testing methodologies and technologies to enhance laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.
- Serve as a key point of contact for troubleshooting technical issues and resolving operational challenges.
- Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures, results, and quality assurance activities.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and Clinical Laboratory experience in high complexity testing; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science and Clinical Laboratory experience in high complexity testing
Licensure/Certification
- Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Lab Technician or eligible for certification to be obtained within 12 months of date of hire.
Experience
- Minimum two years in clinical lab setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science and Clinical Laboratory experience in high complexity testing
