Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Data Entry Specialist – MI GEAR UP Program at its Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions (job Duties)

Position Purpose

The GEAR UP Data Entry Specialist is responsible for entering, correcting, and monitoring data entered into the SCRIBE system to ensure consistency and accuracy of information pertaining to department function. Utilize in-depth knowledge of data entry and use of inputted information to provide data for departmental report. This position will report directly to the manager or director of department.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are the primary duties/major job responsibilities that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. The essential functions are listed in order of importance.

  • Enter and manage student and school data from school partners utilizing the Xcalibur SCRIBE system designed for GEAR UP grants. Percentage of time = 35%
  • Assist Program Coordinators in planning and executing GEAR UP programs that support student development and success. Percentage of time = 15%
  • Generate reports that identify areas for improvement, leading to enhanced program effectiveness and increased participation. Percentage of time = 15%
  • Assist in facilitating workshops and delivering presentations at conferences and college visits to promote college and career readiness and student success. Percentage of time = 10%
  • Conduct extensive survey analyses to assess student services, admissions processes, and educational outcomes. Percentage of time = 10%
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state grant objectives by managing and reporting on program metrics through Xcalibur SCRIBE software, contributing to continued funding and program sustainability. Percentage of time = 5%
  • Collaborate with GEAR UP programs across Michigan and external organizations to ensure student access and college access tools. Percentage of time = 5%
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Percentage of time = 5%

Qualifications

Education Bachelor’s degree

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Data Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

  • Minimum 2 years related experience, including navigating the SCRIBE Data Basem.
  • Knowledge of importing and exporting data.
  • Experience in program coordination.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Skilled in Xcalibur SCRIBE data system.
  • Skilled in creating Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets and Functions.
  • Strong ability to record and maintain bookkeeping or quantitative data.
  • Desire to work with middle and high school students.
  • Ability to make presentations and facilitate workshops.
  • Ability to present narrative description of numerical data effectively.
  • Strong positive communication skills.
  • Performs well with tasks systemically and consistently.
