About The Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00-07:00 Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Must-Have: – Critical thinking skills – EKG rhythm interpretation – Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips – Peripheral IV skills – Experience with bipaps, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems – Experience with stroke and post-cardiac catheterization care Job Description: – Work on a unit with 34 and 25 beds – Patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights – Staffing includes 3 techs when full in the larger unit and 2 techs in the smaller – Equipment includes bipaps, high flow O2, vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, and wound vacs – Utilize Meditech documentation system – Scheduling requires work every other weekend and consists of three 12-hour shifts per week – May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors as needed – Perform hourly rounding during days and every 2-hour rounding on nights – Implement AIDET protocol and maintain communication boards on floor – Procedures include peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, Dobhoff/NG tube insertions, and central line dressing changes – Troubleshoot wound vacs Additional Information: – Unit allows self-scheduling with 4-week schedules – Strong culture of care like family and teamwork – Many travelers choose to extend their contracts after the initial period
