We’re Looking for a Copy Editor to Join Our Creative Team! ??

Are you passionate about perfecting words, spotting errors, and enhancing scientific content? At EMJ, we are looking for a Copy Editor to produce high-quality content for our journals, newsletters, and website. If you love refining details and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, this role could be for you!

? What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Editing content to the highest standard by ensuring scientific information is clear, accurate, and engaging.
  • Proofreading text, tables, and figures, identifying errors, and ensuring everything follows EMJ’s house style.
  • Working with the editorial team to meet timelines for upcoming journal issues.
  • Writing promotional content and creating newsletters that stand out.
  • Participating in the production of podcasts and webinars, bringing ideas to life.
  • Supporting colleagues across departments while contributing as an enthusiastic team player.
  • Opportunity to contribute to content creation through writing news stories.

? What We’re Looking For:

  • A keen eye for detail and a passion for editing and improving scientific text.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, along with strong computer skills (Excel and Word).
  • The ability to manage tight deadlines and handle high workloads effectively.
  • Knowledge of Adobe InCopy or audio editing would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • An enthusiastic team player who takes pride in delivering high-quality work.

Key Information

  • Salary: £26,000
  • Hours: 8.30am – 5pm, Mon-Fri
  • Working pattern: Hybrid min 3 days in the office (FT in office during probation)
  • Reporting to: Managing Editor
  • Location: Our buzzing London/Moorgate office

We operate a hybrid working environment. We’d expect to see you in the office at least 3 days a week. During your probation, though, you’ll be in with us all five days—it’s the best way to get you up to speed and support your development. So, if you’re after something fully remote, this probably won’t be the right fit – we encourage people in office, where we people are achieving their personal and professional goals.

Your CV will be reviewed by the Recruitment team. If successful, we will be in touch to arrange a 20-30 min video call. Following this there will be a writing task and a 2-stage interview process, one focused on competencies and one on the EMJ values.
