Job Description
This position is within QGSO’s Demographic Insights and Statistics (DIS) Unit. DIS is a client focussed group, with a strong culture of agility, collaboration, and innovation.
While there will be opportunities to support project work across DIS, most of your time in this role will be focussed on delivering data products and services to Education Queensland to assist decision making in relation to school infrastructure planning.
The key responsibilities
- Prepare state school enrolment forecasts
- Undertake geocoding of address files
- Contribute to school catchment analyses and related research tasks
- Prepare briefings and maps based on the analysis and reporting of education, demographic, housing, regional planning, and urban land planning information
- Assist with the management of the collection, collation and storage of the team’s education planning information, ensuring accuracy, currency, and comprehensiveness of the collection
- Liaise and consult with clients and external organisations in relation to education planning issues and acquisition of data
- Actively ensure that team outputs satisfy Office standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies
- Maintain a working knowledge of the role and duties of other officers, to assist with staff absences and workload fluctuations
- Participate in achieving organisational and client objectives as a member of a flexible team.
Success criteria
Role
To be successful in this role you will need demonstrated knowledge of, and experience, in mapping and geocoding software. You will also need to have:
- experience manipulating data in spreadsheets
- attention to detail
- good written and verbal communication skills
- good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing work priorities
- and the ability to apply effective judgement, communication and understanding of competing perspectives in developing solutions.
