Job Description

Position Title: Digital Forensics Systems Administrator

Compensation: $57 per hour

Duration: Contract-to-Hire

Location: Onsite in Arizona

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Forensics Systems Administrator to support forensic lab operations. This role requires a strong blend of system administration and network engineering expertise. The ideal candidate will have experience managing digital backups, maintaining servers, configuring forensic workstations, and assisting with hardware/software solutions. This is an onsite position with no remote work option.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • OR a combination of education and experience with at least two years of computer administration experience in a large workforce (1,000+ employees).

Experience Level

  • Minimum of five years of experience in similar projects.
  • Previous experience working on government projects is required.

Technical Skills

  • Expert-level management of Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, and Mellanox hardware and configurations.
  • Proficiency in system testing applications to identify performance, data integrity, and communication issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, SAN maintenance, and file server upgrades.
  • Skilled in hardware/software installation, configuration, and updates.
  • Strong capabilities in digital forensic systems setup and troubleshooting, including workstations and client hardware.
  • Expertise in network architecture, documentation, and mapping.
  • Experience with antivirus software updates and maintenance.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience supporting Certified Forensic Computer Examiners (CFCE) with hardware/software solutions.
  • Strong ability to design and implement network architecture and complex systems.
  • Familiarity with forensic systems in criminal investigations, including testifying in court regarding server and data integrity.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-agency collaboration.
  • Comfortable working in sensitive environments involving exposure to data regarding crimes against children.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain digital backups for the SAN production server.
  • Configure and upgrade domain and file servers.
  • Set up and maintain new domain users in Active Directory.
  • Configure forensic workstations and related hardware.
  • Provide support for servers, SAN, lab networks, and client workstations.
  • Collaborate with multiple workgroups/agencies on network issues and upgrades.
  • Plan and manage technical projects related to information security, networks, and cloud configurations.
  • Design and document complex system/network architecture and create detailed mapping.
  • Install and configure hardware/software according to established standards.
  • Ensure hardware/software updates, including antivirus programs, are current.
  • Testify in court proceedings about the integrity of servers and data.
