About This Role

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible to support the design, development, analysis, testing, and evaluation of electrical systems and the associated equipment. You will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our facility electrical systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment, contributing to safe and efficient engineering solutions in advanced energy production. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a foundational understanding of engineering principles and a willingness to learn and grow within the field.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct design, analysis, testing, and performance evaluations of electrical equipment and systems, ranging from low-voltage DC to high-voltage three-phase systems, including related components and infrastructure.
  • Serve as the engineer responsible for the operation, maintenance, and improvement of one or more facility systems, such as lighting, cathodic protection, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarms, public address systems, building evacuation systems, communication networks, cranes, motors, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), battery systems, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Support the planning, design, and implementation of electrical control systems and modifications, integrating various electrical components and accommodating diverse power distribution requirements.
  • Develop and provide detailed specifications for contractors, ensuring timely and quality delivery of their work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Ability to design and analyze electrical systems in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proficient in circuit design and analysis.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience with asset management principles.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
  • Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical installations for high voltage and low voltage distribution to process plant equipment, battery systems, power, and lighting.
  • Nuclear facility experience.
  • Arc flash hazard calculation experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred or the ability to obtain one.
  • Advanced degrees.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
