Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
- Characterize and evaluate soil, rock, groundwater, and other natural conditions prior to major construction projects
- Identify and develop mitigation measures for potential geological hazards affecting life, land, and property.
- Consult geological maps and historic stereoscopic aerial photographs for site characterization and detailed geologic mapping
- Monitor development areas and characterize and evaluate geological conditions to ensure that existing and proposed structures are secure in the short and long-term
- Perform geologic observations, approvals, and detailed geologic mapping during mass grading
- Plan and conduct detailed field explorations involving field mapping, drilling, test pits, trenches and collection and characterization of soil and bedrock samples
- Analyze sites and designs for environmentally sensitive developments, such as landfill sites, coastal developments, and waterfront projects
- Communicate and collaborate with peers (locally and in other regional offices), clients, and subcontractors
- Supervise field investigations and visit new and existing project sites
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary staff, including other engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, consultants and field representatives
- Perform well-defined field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities as required
- Build geologic models, interpret subsurface stratigraphy, and draw cross sections to analyze slope stability

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering Geology (preferred), Geology, or Civil Engineering with a Geology focus
- Must be able to legally work within the United States and have a clean driving record.
- Must own/have access to a vehicle that can drive onto job sites.
